desk This Web sight contains a small sample of images done for a variety of clients. Unfortunately, because of confidentiality to clients and works in progress, I’m unable to show a large portion of my portfolio (I’m chompin’ at the bit to get it up more than you are to see it)! I’m horrible at updating the site but will try as often as I can when new stuff can be shown. Hopefully, this web page will allow potential clients to see my work and determine if it is right for their needs.

Please feel free to contact me for contract prices, availability or letters of recommendation.
-- Hugh Jamieson

-A Brief Biography-

By the age of 6, Hugh Jamieson was painting in oils and working in charcoal. At that point, he found he could paint far better than write his name (little has changed).

Hugh trained as a graphic designer at Cornish College of the Arts, and later at California College of Arts and Crafts. In 1994, he graduated from Art Center College of Design with a BFA in Illustration/Fine Art. During college and after graduation, he worked as a freelance editorial/advertising illustrator and fine artist. Hugh finally gave up his gallery artist career when his art rep told him, "You need to start wearing black and acting more mysterious!" Hugh didn't find it hard adjusting to a life without free wine and cheese.

hugh Hugh's conceptual art career started as a complete accident while planning the big jump from California to New York (the thing he was told had to be done to become a wildly successful illustrator). Every year dozens of companies conduct interviews at Art Center in hopes of recruiting artists to work for them. Hugh thought this would be a perfect opportunity to practice his interviewing skills for freelance illustration jobs in New York. He signed up for every interview he could. Hugh ended up being hired by Disney Computer software - an extremely strange turn since he wasn't real fond of playing video games and computers were strange beige machines with lots of buttons! Over the years, he has held just about every job related to video games with the exception of programmer and receptionist! In the ten years of designing video games he has the opportunity to work on close to twenty game titles with some of the largest companies in the industry.

In 2000 Hugh decided to work as a freelance concept artist and painter. Between video game assignments he started painting collectable cards for Alderac entertainment Group on a game called Legend of the Five Rings. Hugh has currently worked on nine games for AEG, Wizards of the Coast, Aberrant and Sabertooth Games.

In his spare time Hugh is working on illustrating and writing several books.

Hugh currently resides out side of Seattle, WA with his wife, son, and an average sized cat (we shaved him- he looks smaller).
